A Look Back at the 1st Edition of the UTC Research Nights

From November 18 to 27, the Research Nights returned to the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC) over a decade after their last edition. This renewed event aimed to connect students with the cutting-edge technological research conducted in UTC’s eight laboratories, reinforcing the institution’s long-standing integration of education and research.

A standout feature of this edition was the opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the pioneering work of UTC researchers through guided tours, engaging directly with projects that define the university’s scientific excellence. Among the laboratories highlighted, the COSTECH laboratory showcased its innovative Digital Hall (plateforme Halle Numérique), a research platform pivotal to its ongoing contributions to technology and society.

The Digital Hall played a central role in presenting COSTECH’s involvement in the ERASMUS+ RIALHE project. This initiative explores how digital tools can revolutionise research-based learning, with the Digital Hall providing a unique environment for experimentation and collaboration. Students discovered how COSTECH leverages this platform to study and enhance the pedagogical practices of research training, fostering international partnerships to reimagine education in a digital era.

This event’s success is a testament to the collaborative spirit of the UTC. Led by Director Claire Rossi, the Research Nights brought together the efforts of Florian Miousset, a highly motivated student leader, as well as faculty, doctoral students, the communication, research, and doctoral school teams.

As part of the Industry Week initiative, the Research Nights welcomed over 170 students eager to explore the possibilities that research offers beyond their engineering degrees. With its blend of inspiration and education, this edition has undoubtedly sparked a new wave of interest in academic and industrial research careers, setting the stage for an even more dynamic second edition in 2025.
